Jan King

Author of more than 25 humour and wellnes books for women

Biography
Jan King has been leveling with women for almost two decades. She's told them the truth about men, the truth about menopause, the truth about their own bodies, and, most importantly, the truth about themselves. And through it all she has kept them laughing hysterically.

Humor comes naturally to Jan as a way to inform women on their most serious problems, especially when she discusses health matters. As a seven-year breast cancer survivor, she inspires and motivates women all across America at wellness seminars, book fairs, and corporate programs.

Jan King earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut and a master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania before teaching biology in inner-city high schools for six years. She began writing in the 1980s with a humor column that appeared in Women's Image magazine.

Her first book Hormones From Hell became an international success. Since 1990, she has written 23 hilarious books on a wide variety of women's issues with uncompromising honesty and a terrific wit. The impressive numbers that she has racked up during her publishing career are a direct result of her ability to promote herself. She has single-handedly gotten herself booked on TV and radio shows ranging from Donahue and Joan Rivers, to Geraldo and the Today Show. Most recently, articles on her positive approach to life and her regimen have appeared in the June 2004 issue of Organic Style, the June 2004 issue of First for Women, and the July 2004 issue of More magazine.

Bouncing Back, published by Running Press, is the title of Jan's new book, and it's not just about recovering from illness. Her BOUNCE plan is geared towards dealing with all of life's setbacks through humor and proactive changes to behavior.
