| Louis Alloro
Positive Psychologist Facilitator Motivational Coach
Biography
From individuals to families, businesses and schools, Louis Alloro facilitates positive growth experiences for individuals and systems. His background and training places him at the intersection of Education (teaching & learning) and Positive Psychology (the science of optimal functioning, success, and happiness).
As one of the first hundred people in the world to earn a degree in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, Louis had the privilege of working with Dr. Martin Seligman, former president of the American Psychological Association, known for his landmark research first in learned helplessness and then, learned optimism. Other innovative thinkers I worked with include Barb Fredrickson (Theory of Positive Emotion), Chris Peterson (Strengths), and Mihaliy Csikszentmihalyi (Flow).
Louis has published several papers and articles about his ongoing research and development of Social-Emotional Leadership, a framework for sustainable systemic cultural change. His hypothesis is that Social-Emotional Leaders exist within our organizations. Once they are found and leveraged, they can be called to act in helping co-create the positive change we are after. Louis writes about Social-Emotional Leadership and other topics related to the application of Positive Psychology regularly to his blog and to Positive Psychology News Daily.
Louis is frequently invited to speak at organizational, community, academic or trade events on topics pertaining to Positive Psychology, wellness, and leadership. He also speak regularly at his meet up groups, the NYC Self-Improvement Society and the Happiness Clubs of NJ and Brooklyn.
Louis is a member of the International Coach Federation, International Positive Psychology Association, American Psychological Association, and American Educational Research Association.
When he is not working, he really enjoys spending meaningful moments with family, friends, and anyone interested in becoming a better person. He also likes exercising hard, traveling far, and eating well.
