Biography
Gunnar Peterson is a Beverly Hills-based
personal trainer whose clients include celebrities, such asAngelina Jolie,
Sylvester Stallone, Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConaughey, Debra Messing, Penelope
Cruz, rock guitarist Slash, professional athletes, like Bruce Jenner, and
everyday people. Gunnar works with each client on an individual basis, focusing
on achieving long-term results through challenging and constantly varied
workouts. He is widely recognized for his expertise in functional training and
his commitment to developing and implementing innovative fitness techniques.
With more than 17 years in the fitness industry, Gunnar's dynamic approach,
boundless energy and humor only add to the effectiveness of the experience his

Gunnar has been into health and fitness all his life. As a young child,
Gunnar was overweight. His mother even put him in Weight Watchers when he was
ten. It was a struggle to keep a steady weight. In college, he focused more on
fitness and took personal health more seriously. It wasn't until he graduated
from college that he finally had a more consistent personal program and kept his
healthy lifestyle more permanent. He moved to L.A. and continued to pursue
health and fitness. He vigorously worked out and took whatever health classes he
could. He started seeing the differences between what would work and what didn't
and started coming up with his own techniques. He even started being a personal
trainer. From that, his expertise and client list grew. Gunnar continues his
search to find the most effective techniques that really work.

Gunnar released his first book, G-Force, in January 2005 (Regan Books). Now
out in paperback as The Workout, the book is about training, making it a part of
your life, creating and maintaining a positive mindset, and improvising to keep
workouts effective and interesting. Through his own fitness product development
company, Outside Shot, Gunnar has created The Bottom Line, a total body exercise
machine, The RAC , an accessory that incorporates weighted upper body work with
Spinning , and Hoop Hands , a basketball-specific resistance training aid.
Gunnar is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and
the American Council on Exercise, and he is a graduate of Duke University. He is
an editor and writes a monthly column for Muscle and Fitness, is on the advisory
board for Fitness magazine, has been a contributing editor for Glamour, and has
a recurring feature in L.A Confidential magazine. Gunnar is also regularly
featured in Allure, Elle, In Style, In Touch, US Weekly, Men's Health, Womens
Health, Self, Fitness and other magazines. His television appearances include
