Julie K. Silver M.D.

Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor
Author of "After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better, Stronger”
Founder of the "RESTORE" Cancer Program

Biography

Julie Silver, MD is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and an award-winning author of more than a dozen books focusing on recovery from serious illnesses and injuries. Cure magazine reviewed her new book, After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better, Stronger and wrote, “This is one you need... I like that she understands."

In 2003, Dr. Silver was recognized for her work helping people to physically heal by the Boston Junior Chamber of Commerce with the Ten Outstanding Young Leaders (TOYL) award. That same year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38. Following her toxic, though life-saving, treatments, she was exhausted and in poor physical health. After rehabilitating herself, she founded a new program called RESTORE that focuses on helping cancer survivors physically recover.

Today, Dr. Silver’s message is one of hope and healing. An upbeat speaker, she is most interested in empowering people and giving them the tools they need to heal. In 2005, her physician colleagues in Massachusetts selected her for a “Top Doctors” award, and in 2006, the American Cancer Society bestowed her with the prestigious Lane Adams Quality of Life award in recognition for her work with cancer survivors.

Dr. Silver has been featured on The Early Show, ABC News Now, AARP Radio, NPR radio, USA Today, and many others.

She continues to impart the gift of super healing in her latest book, Super Healing: The Clinically Proven Plan to Maximize Recovery from Illness or Injury. Her upcoming book What Helped Get Me Through, features advice from cancer survivors, in their own words, regarding what helped them get through the toughest times.
